Florida DOT FAQ

Why did I receive a collection notice from Penn Credit?
You have been referred to Penn Credit by FDOT for the collection of unpaid tolls and fees.

I received a collection notice, but I have a SunPass account. What should I do?
There are several reasons you may have received a notice as a SunPass account holder. Check your transponder to see if it is mounted properly in your vehicle. Also make sure that the vehicle information, credit card information and personal information listed on your SunPass account is current and that your account has available funds. If you believe you have received a toll enforcement invoice in error, please contact Penn Credit by phone at 800-900-1365 or email compliance@penncredit.com.

Why is the balance Penn Credit is attempting to collect higher than the amount stated on a Toll Enforcement Invoice previously mailed to me by FDOT?
Your outstanding balance due has been referred by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to our agency for collection and our agency has been authorized to charge a collection fee for our services. Collection fees are not charged by or paid to FDOT. To ensure your obligation is fully satisfied, please make payment directly to Penn Credit.

What if someone else was driving my car while the toll charges occurred, am I responsible for payment?
Yes, as the vehicle owner, you are responsible under Florida law for the payment of any tolls and/or fees, regardless of who was operating the vehicle.

What additional steps can FDOT utilize to collect unpaid tolls and fees?
We encourage you to make payment to avoid further escalation. If payment is not made promptly, a registration hold against your motor vehicle record may be initiated.

The vehicle was sold before the toll charges were incurred, how may I submit a dispute?
Please contact Penn Credit’s Compliance Department via email or mail with supporting documentation; for example, police report for stolen vehicle, document surrendering license plate, bill of sale, etc.
